I’m a machine learning engineer designing things.
I focus on narratology and symbolism. I use the imaginary of humanity as a playground and my work has been strongly influenced by the work of Vladimir Propp in "Morphology of the Folktale". I'm fascinated by the process of exploring and representing cultural data formats through swift scale alterations, especially those that are so expansive, densely packed, or thinly spread that they exceed the ordinary processing capacity of the human brain.

Latent Organism proposes a novel technique for the design of 3D objects using a tangible interface. Our artefact takes advantage of generative algorithms to let anyone produce unique and complex 3D shapes through natural and playful interactions with an intuitive and sensitive tactile interface. This process of co-creation between the human and the machine through a balanced interaction is a way of appropriating an artificial imagination. For this experiment, the machine was fed thousands of photos of living organisms. Its property of learning and generalisation allows it to converge towards an abstract conception of the idea of organic flesh. Then, navigation is possible in this continuous space of potentiality. The spectator is in control, using the imagination of the machine as clay, as a moldable material.

By leveraging recent generative models, Latent Organism suggests a new method for creating 3D objects through tangible interaction. Our artifact enables anyone to create complex and organic 3D shapes using an understandable and sensitive tactile interface. This process of cooperative creation between humans and machines empowers individuals to develop a craftsmanship of artificial imagination modeling. The machine was fed thousands of images of living beings so as to learn a representation of the concept of organic flesh. Then, one can go around in this endless realm of possibility. By employing the machine’s imagination as clay, the subject becomes an active explorer of the latent space.
